The Baye Fall are a Sufi Muslim sect from Senegal. Their core teachings are of non-violence, a strong work ethic, and devotion to their spiritual leader Cheikh Amadou Bamba, and his descendants. Collaging fabrics is the Baye Fall way as it is their abiding principle to WASTE NOTHING. The fabrics I use in these three works are from clothes I have had made for myself over the years, all purchased in the HLM (Habitations à Loyer Modéré/Homes for Moderate Rents) market in Dakar.
